Slappy the man, the myth, the bio;
A long time ago in a city far, far away.......................
A man & a woman loved each other very much and made the mistake of having unprotected sex and now that mistake has a radio show! Hailing from the land of God's baseball team. St. Louis I have come back to Springfield after a 2 year stint away to answer the "Slappy signal" Smash had fired up high atop the WCVS studio and been given the task to start a rock radio revolution in the city that I love. Fight rock mediocrity & join the Slappy army in our revolution every weekday afternoon from 3-7. Yes Live DJ's do exist in Springfield and now you know they aren't in Riverton.

So this is the 1st in a new series of blogs I will be doing for the website spotlighting local entertainment. Some would
say that entertainment options locally are a mixed bag at best and they have a point to an extent. However as the
saying goes the cream always rises to the top so with that being said any time I come across something worth
spending your hard earned entertainment dollar on I will share it with you. With that in mind I advise you to glance at
the picture accompanying my diatribe.
That my friend is a local band by the name of "Music for Big Kids" a rock band out of the fighting city of Springfield IL
and made up some fine young gentlemen including;
Patrick Russell - Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
Jeff Nevins - Bass, Backing Vocals
Ralph Shank - Drums, Backing Vocals
Michael Sullivan - Lead Guitar
Aside from playing live music all over town (including an upcoming gig at Bar None on September 26th) they also just
announced a release date for they're debut album "Hold and Hold On" due out just in time for your holiday shopping
binge on November 20th. I like to describe the music as "beef stew" for your ears as individually everything is good but
when you mix all the different styles and influences of the band members together you truly end up with something
special. Why try and pigeonhole them into a specific genre of rock when I can instead make a food reference that more
then adequately describes the sounds of M4BK as the cool kids call them. If your hungering for something different but
with a sound that almost instantly feels as comfortable as a warm blanket then hearing a song like "Expiration Date" will
be worth the price of the album or admission to see them live alone. Thus far my personal favorite is the song "RRM" which
is the kind of song you listen to on a long drive with the windows down in the summer, singing at the top of your lungs. They
have been featured on my show in the past and are more then likely going to be back in my studio by the time the album
drops, but stop taking my word for it and go see them live at some of Springfield's finer music establishments.

So when I was given the ability to update my own page on the wcvs website I had a number of different ideas I wanted to use to get people itnerested in checking out the site. Most of them involved hot female listeners naked, but since I haven't had a steady enough stream of chicks sending me pictures I was stumped. About a week ago while watching Serenity in glorious hi-def I realized I would love to have "the sex" with Summer Glau and my penis & I agreed we should work her into the page somehow. A week later the "World Series of Clam" was born. Here is how it works;
The premise;
Each Wednesday/hump day I will add 3 more hotties to the page and you the ever so tasteful listener will then vote in the poll over who is the hottest and will go on to the next round. As always you can make suggestions of hotties i should use and I will take that into account until we have one Clam to rule them all! I will post the weekly winners pic in this very blog as well every Wednesday so keep checking back for the results!
and congrats to the 1st WSOC Champion!

So this seems to be the million dollar question people keep asking me since the Slappy X-periment debuted on WCVS and well you know I don't hold anything back so here is the scoop. I quit working in Springfield at "the station that refuses to be good" December 23, 2005 because an ignorant ass old b*tch was stealing from me and so I Quit 2 days before x-mas. I won't be pushed around by anyone let alone some old hag on a powertrip and coincidentally neither would Ray Lytle or Smash. Long story short Smash calls me one day & says he wants to shake things up & give rock radio back to the people that made it such a force in this town to begin with. You wouldn't settle for the mundane, boring crap that was being force fed down your throat and now you don't have too. The Ray Lytle show, Smash Radio & The Slappy X-periment are not your average, everyday, run of the mill shows and 96.7 the Rock is not your average, everyday, run of the mill radio station it's your station and this is your revolution!
I'm just glad to be apart of it
Oh & to the above mentioned hag...one more thing

Hugs & Kisses,
Slappy
